Privacy policy

What we collect

• Your entry: the photo, title, message, category and link you submit. All of this is public by design.
• Your email address: used to send your manage link and notifications about your entry. It is never shown publicly and never sold.
• Likes: we store a salted, one-way hash of your IP address combined with a random browser identifier, plus the date. This is only to stop the same person liking the same entry twice in one day. We cannot recover an IP address from the hash.
• Clicks: we count outbound clicks per entry. We do not record who clicked.
• Where you arrived from: once per browser session we add 1 to a daily counter for the website that linked you here (for example “instagram.com”) and the kind of page you landed on. It is a tally, not a log — there is no row for your visit, no IP address, no device details and no full web address, so it cannot be traced back to you or used to follow you between pages.

What we do not collect

We do not store raw IP addresses. We do not run advertising trackers or sell data to anyone. We never ask for, receive or store your password for Instagram or any other service.

Photos are stripped of embedded metadata before publication, including GPS coordinates. Phone cameras record where a photo was taken, and publishing that would expose where people live.

Payments

Payments are handled by our payment provider as merchant of record. Card details go directly to them and never touch our servers. We receive a payment reference, the amount and your email address so we can credit the right entry.

How long we keep it

Live entries are kept while they are on the board. Hall of Fame records are permanent by design — that permanence is the reward for reaching the top. Like hashes are kept for 90 days. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. Arrival counts hold no personal data, so they are kept indefinitely.

If an entry is removed for breaking the guidelines, we keep the email address on a list that prevents further entries from it. That is the only thing the list is used for.

Your choices

Email hello@limelightboard.com to remove your entry, correct your details, or request a copy of what we hold. We will remove a live entry on request. Hall of Fame records can be anonymised on request.
